Since the foundation of Den Jyske Opera (the Danish National Opera) in 1947, the activities of the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra also comprise accompaniment of the performances of Den Jyske Opera.
The collaboration between the two institutions have offered great challenges and great victories, among which especially the complete performances of Der Ring des Nibelungen in 1987 and 1996 deserve to be singled out for special mention - as well as Richard Strauss’ Elektra, Salome and Die schweigsame Frau and Puccinis La Bohème in 2003.
